ADMISSION NOTICE CBSE JEE (MAIN) – 2017
In pursuance of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India,
Notification, the 5
th Joint Entrance Examination (Main) - 2017 will be conducted on 02/04/2017
(Sunday) by the JEE Apex Board for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in
NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions etc.
The States of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Nagaland & Odisha have
joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these
states, which were earlier admitting based on their State level examination, are also advised to fill
in the JEE (Main) -2017 application form online.
The JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate
has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the
IITs/ISM Dhanbad. The candidates are advised to see the JEE (Advanced) website
www.jeeadv.ac.in for information related to JEE (Advanced).
The detailed information bulletin containing details of examination, syllabus, eligibility criteria
to appear, examination fee, cities of examination, State code of eligibility, age relaxation, eligibility
for admission, reservation policies and important dates will be available on JEE (Main) website
www.jeemain.nic.in on 01/12/2016. The aspiring candidates are requested to download the
information bulletin from above mentioned website only and read the same carefully before
applying. The eligibility criteria for JEE (Main) & JEE (Advanced) are different. The candidates are
requested to read the information bulletin carefully and ensure their eligibility as per the criteria
laid down for JEE (Main)and JEE (Advanced).
All the Indian citizen candidates should possess AADHAAR card issued by UIDAI
with their correct details. At the time of filling application form of JEE (Main) – 2017, the
candidates will have to enter their AADHAAR number, name, date of birth & gender which
will be validated with the UIDAI’s data. In case, these particulars do not match, the
candidate will not be able to fill the application form of JEE (Main) - 2017. Therefore, the
candidates are advised to ensure that their AADHAAR card has correct details of their
name, date of birth & gender as per school records. If there is some mismatch in these
details, the candidates should immediately get it corrected in AADHAAR data or school
records, as the case may be.
The aspiring candidates have to apply online only through JEE (Main) website
www.jeemain.nic.in. The online application process will start from 01st December, 2016 onwards.
The last date for application is 02nd January, 2017 and fee can be paid upto 03rd January 2017.

Joint Entrance Examination (Main) - 2017 CENTRAL BOARD OF SECONDARY EDUCATION
Central Board of Secondary Education- CBSE (JEE Apex Board) invites applications from the eligible candidates for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions etc through Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2017.

Candidates are suggested to check the JEE Main 2017 eligibility criteria before applying:
Candidates appearing/passed 12th or equivalent exam in 2015 or 2016 with PCM are eligible to apply.
Candidates who have passed 12th or equivalent exam in 2014 are not eligible to apply.
Number of Subjects in 12th: Aspirants should have minimum five subjects in 12th/qualifying examination.
Number of Attempts: Candidate can attempt JEE Main exam three times only.
Diploma (3 years) holders are also eligible to apply.
Age Limit: Candidate’s date of birth should fall on or after 01 October, 1992 for general candidates and 01, October 1987 for SC, ST and Pwd candidates.
There shall be no weightage for the 12th class marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE (Main) examination,
For the candidates to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

COMMON MANAGEMENT ADMISSION TEST CMAT-2017 Notification
Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The CMAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.

About GPAT

FORMAT OF GPATIs GPAT going to be conducted ONLINE twice a year?
No. From academic year 2016-17 onwards, the GPAT exam will be conducted only once a year, The GPAT-2017 will be conducted on 28th January 2017. 29th January 2017 is a reserved day.
How is the computer-based online examination different from the conventional paper-based examinations?
The computer-based online examination is more or less the same except that a candidate reads a question on a computer terminal and clicks on the correct answer, instead of reading on a paper booklet and using a pencil/pen to darken the ovals on an answer sheet.
Can I take the test from any computer?
No. A candidate will have to take the test on a pre-assigned computer at the test venue.
What does a Computer Based Test look like?
GPAT trial test will be available on the website www.aicte-gpat.in from 15th Dec 2016 for candidates to get familiarized with the functionality and navigation of the actual Computer Based test.

What is the scoring pattern and rule for negative marking?
For each correct answer there are 4 marks, for each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted.

Is there any age restriction for appearing in GPAT?
No, there is no age restriction for appearing in GPAT.
What is the fee for the test?
The fee for General / OBC candidates appearing for GPAT is Rs.1400 + Bank charges as applicable; whereas for Female /SC/ST/PWD category candidates fee is Rs.700 + Bank charges as applicable.
Where do I pay my fees?
Candidates are appearing for test in India are required to pay registration fee either by Online (Credit / Debit cards / Net banking).
When and how do I register for GPAT January 2017?
Online registration for GPAT January 2017 will begin on 10th October, 2016 and close on 10th December 2016. Detailed instructions for the online application and registration process are available on this website (www.aicte-gpat.in)
Can I use my coaching institute’s or a friend’s email address when registering for GPAT?
No, you need to have a valid and unique email address of yourself which you will be using at least for the next eight months
Can I pay the fees through Bank Demand Draft or Cheque or Cash? Where do I pay my fees?
No. Fees cannot be paid through Bank Demand Draft or Cheque. It can be paid through online or Cash at any of the SBI branch. For making cash payment, you need to generate Challan through the portal and visit the nearest SBI bank on the next day of challan generation to pay the cash.
When will GPAT be held and can I choose a test city?
GPAT in India will be held on 28th January, 2017.29th January 2017 is a reserved day. Yes, you can select up-to 3 cities in India giving order of preference towards your test city. The first choice of city will be given due consideration and weightage. However, actual allotment as per order of choice will be subject to availability of the slot in that particular city.

When will I get my Admit Card?
You can PRINT your ADMIT CARD by going to website www.aicte-gpat.in from 13th January, 2017.
What details will be mentioned in the Admit Card?
The admit card will contain the photo, name and signature of the candidate, GPAT Roll number, test date, time, reporting time at the venue, venue name, venue address and brief instructions for the candidate.
Will the Admit Card be sent to me as a hard copy by mail?
No. Apart from the ADMIT CARD made available ONLINE on the website, the admit card will be sent to the email address provided by you. It is therefore, mandatory for you to have a valid email account throughout the selection process. Note: Admit Card is a mandatory requirement in order to take the test. You must bring a print out of your Admit Card to the test centre.
What are the different Time Slots of the Test?
There will be no different time slots. Test will begin at 2:30 PM on 28th Jan 2017.29th Jan 2017 is a reserved day. Candidates are required to arrive at the test centre on or before 1:00 PM for Security checks, Identity verification, and check-in.
What are the timings to contact the helpline?

What if I generate the CASH challan on 10th Dec, 2016? How can I proceed after that as the registration last date is also 10th December 2016? Can I pay the fees through Bank Demand Draft or Cheque or Cash?
If you generate Challan on 10th Dec, 2016, you can pay the CASH by 11th Dec, 2016 and complete the registration process by 13th Dec, 2016. For all existing users who have not paid their CASH after generating CHALLAN or are waiting for their data to get updated on the portal, the last date of application form submission will be 13th Dec, 2016.
Can I change my preferred test city after I have submitted my form?
No. No data can be changed once the form is finally submitted.
After submission of GPAT registration fee, can I cancel my application and apply for refund of fee?
Under no circumstances, cancellation of application and refund of fee will be allowed.
If I do not take my test, will I be eligible for a refund?
No. Your fees will not be refunded in case you do not appear for your test as per your scheduled location, date and time
EXAMINATION DAY
What is the reporting time for the examinations?
One Hour and Thirty minutes prior to the test time. For the test beginning at 2.30 pm, you must reach the test centre no later than 1:00 PM.
What is the identification documents required to be carried to the test centre?
Candidates appearing for test in India will need to bring the following identification documents on the test day:
a) SELF ATTESTED COPY of GPAT 2017. Admit Card with recent passport size photo pasted on it.
b) At least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification. The name on your photo identification must match your name as entered in the GPAT application. Acceptable forms of photo identification types are limited to Driver's license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, UID card or a notarized Affidavit (in English) with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. Photocopies of the original are not acceptable. Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if photo identification is not presented. SC/ST candidates are required to bring the valid caste certificate in Original and an ATTESTED photocopy. Physically Disabled candidates are required to bring the valid Disability certificate in Original and an ATTESTED photocopy. ATTESTATION CAN BE DONE BY INSTITUTE HEAD ALSO Note: You will have to store all other personal items at the test centre at your own risk. Please do not bring any other items to the test centre, as they are not permitted into the testing centre.
Does the name need to match with the names appearing on the identification documents?
Your name needs to be exactly identical to the name on your Xth Mark sheet or equivalent for candidates appearing for GPAT. Note: - If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage, you must show the relevant document such as Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree, Legal Name Change Document and submit a photocopy at the time of the examination of GPAT-2017 and interview and at the time of joining a programme at institutes.
What are the permitted materials I can bring with me to the test centre?
None. You will not be permitted to bring any personal items to the test centre, including but not limited to wrist-watch, cellphones, calculators, etc.
What is the duration and pattern of the test?
The total duration is 3 hours. The actual test will contain 125 questions.
Do I have any breaks during the test?
No, you will not be given any breaks during the test.
If I complete my exam before three hours, can I leave early?
No. even if you complete the exam before the scheduled end time, you will not be allowed to leave the exam hall. You are allowed to leave the exam only after the scheduled three hours of exam are over. You cannot leave in between the exam even if you finish the exam early.
Will I be provided with any scratch paper for rough work and calculations during the test?
At the test centre, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. On completion of the test, candidates will have to hand back all the scratch paper to the Administrator.

No.

How do I get my Admit Card, whom should I contact?

Can I make any changes to my postal address after I have submitted my application form?
No, Once you submitted your application form, there is no way to change your information.
PHYSICALLY DISABLED (PD) CANDIDATES
Who is eligible to take the test under the Physically Disabled category?
As per the “Persons with Disability Act, 1995”, candidate appearing for GPAT in India qualifies to be a Physically Disabled (PD) candidate if he/she suffers from any of the listed disabilities, to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by a medical authority. Following are the categories defined by AICTE for PWD candidates:

I am a PWD candidate with low vision / blindness / cerebral palsy. What special accommodation will be provided to me on the test day?
Visually Impaired and Cerebral Palsy candidates will be allowed to bring a Scribe/ Reader as per scribe form mentioned on the GPAT website. Scribe facility can also be provided by AICTE if the candidate so opts for that. Candidate will be given an opportunity to interact with the scribe a day before the examination. After meeting with the identified scribe, candidate will be required to submit an undertaking. You will also be provided with a time extension of one hour for computer based test
What will be the time extension given to Visually Impaired or Cerebral Palsy candidates?
Visually Impaired or Cerebral Palsy Candidates will be given a time extension of twenty minutes for every hour of the test, thus for 3 hour test you will get a total of 'One Hour' extra.
What are the eligibility criteria for a scribe/reader?
The scribe must fulfil the following criteria:
a. Is not a family member or a friend.
b. Is not involved in any academic tutoring or preparation for the test to be administered.
c. Has not completed 19 years of age as of 28th January, 2017.
d. Has academic qualification lower than that of the candidate.
Note: The age certificate of Scribe has to be presented at the Test Centre. A scribe will not be permitted to assist a candidate in case the above criteria are not met.
GENERAL INFORMATION;
Which universities / institutes will consider GPAT scores for admission?
All AICTE approved Institutes / Departments of Universities are expected to accept GPAT scores. The specific notifications issued by Universities and State Governments are available at GPAT website; aicte-gpat.in.
If I have done Graduation through PART TIME or DISTANCE LEARNING MODE, am I eligible to apply for GPAT exam?
Yes; as long as it is approved by respective statutory bodies.
Will GPAT score be considered for admissions to Part Time MBA courses?
GPAT score will be considered for admissions to all AICTE approved part-time programs.
Will there be a sectional cut off in the examination?
No. there is no sectional cut off in the GPAT examination.
How long is the GPAT 2017 exam score valid?
The GPAT 2017 exam score will be valid for one year which is for admissions to academic year 2017-18 only.
Can I give GPAT exam via paper pencil mode later in case I missed the Online examination?
GPAT is a computer based online exam scheduled on 28th January 2017. 29th January 2017 is a reserved day. It cannot be taken in paper-pencil mode.
I belong to Bangalore. I want to take admission in B. Pharmacy. Should I need to appear in GPAT 2017? Is the test valid for Karnataka students?
GPAT 2017 is not meant for admission into B. Pharmacy course for any state in India. For admission into B. Pharmacy course every state has a policy which you have to find out. Qualifying in GPAT 2017 examination with a score card reading “Qualified for scholarship and admission into M. Pharmacy” is the minimum eligibility criteria for getting a scholarship in M. Pharmacy. Qualifying in GPAT 2017 has nothing to do with reservation policy for admission in M. Pharmacy courses. Seats of M. Pharmacy are reserved as per state/central government policy. Scholarship to the GPAT 2017 qualified candidates would be given by AICTE as per the rules/norms prevailing at that time.
Am I eligible for registration for Ph. D. after qualifying in GPAT 2017 examination?
Although the GPAT 2017 score card is valid only for one year but this is for the purpose of obtaining scholarship in M. Pharmacy course. After completing M. the newly affiliated Medical and Dental colleges of AU and SVU area as given below
will be held on 24.09.2016 - 6.00 AM to 9.00 PM.

Guidelines for scanning and Upload of Photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm) & Signature
Before applying online a candidate will be required to have a scanned (digital) image of his/her photograph and signature as per the specifications given below.
Photograph Image:
- Photograph must be a recent passport style colour picture.
- Make sure that the picture is in colour, taken against a light-coloured, preferably white, background.
- Look straight at the camera with a relaxed face
- If the picture is taken on a sunny day, have the sun behind you, or place yourself in the shade, so that you are not squinting and there are no harsh shadows
- If you have to use flash, ensure there's no "red-eye"
- If you wear glasses make sure that there are no reflections and your eyes can be clearly seen.
- Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed but it must not cover your face.
- Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred)
- Size of file should be between 20kb–50 kb
- Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 50kb. If the size of the file is more than 50 kb, then adjust the settings of the scanner such as the DPI resolution, no. of colours etc., during the process of scanning.
Signature Image:
- The applicant has to sign on white paper with Black Ink pen.
- The signature must be signed only by the applicant and not by any other person.
- The signature will be used to put on the Call Letter and wherever necessary.
- If the Applicant’s signature on the answer script, at the time of the examination, does not match the signature on the Call Letter, the applicant will be disqualified.
- Dimensions 140 x 60 pixels (preferred)
- Size of file should be between 10kb – 20kb
- Ensure that the size of the scanned image is not more than 20kb
- Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS shall NOT be accepted.
Scanning the photograph & signature:
- Set the scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi (dots per inch)
- Set Color to True Color
- File Size as specified above
- Crop the image in the scanner to the edge of the photograph/signature, then use the upload editor to crop the image to the final size (as specified above).
- The image file should be JPG or JPEG format. An example file name is : image01.jpg or image01.jpeg Image dimensions can be checked by listing the folder files or moving the mouse over the file image icon.
- Candidates using MS Windows/MSOffice can easily obtain photo and signature in .jpeg format not exceeding
50kb & 20kb respectively by using MS Paint or MSOffice Picture Manager. Scanned photograph and signature in
any format can be saved in .jpg format by using ‘Save As’ option in the File menu and size can be reduced below
50 kb (photograph) & 20 kb(signature) by using crop and then resize option (Please see point (i) & (ii) above for the
pixel size) in the ‘Image’ menu. Similar options are available in other photo editor also.
- If the file size and format are not as prescribed, an error message will be displayed.
- While filling in the Online Application Form the candidate will be provided with a link to upload his/her photograph and signature.
Procedure for Uploading the Photograph and Signature
- There will be two separate links for uploading Photograph and Signature
- Click on the respective link “Upload Photograph / Signature”
- Browse and Select the location where the Scanned Photograph / Signature file has been saved.
- Select the file by clicking on it
- Click the ‘Open/Upload’ button
Your Online Application will not be registered unless you upload your photograph and signature as specified.
Note:
(!) In case the face in the photograph or signature is unclear the candidate's application may be rejected.
(2) After uploading the photograph/ signature in the online application form candidates should check that the images are clear and have been uploaded correctly. In case the photograph or signature is not prominently visible, the candidate may edit his/ her application and re-upload his/ her photograph or signature, prior to submitting the form.
(3) After registering online candidates are advised to take a printout of their system generated online
application forms.
